Escalona is also a film curator and critic who has written for various publications, including the Daily News, NY Latino, QBR/Quarterly Black Review, and Womensnet.net. Judith Escalona received three Communicator Awards 2012 for her work as a segment producer on Independent Sources/CUNY-TV. She won First Prize in the Best Video category of the Ippies Awards 2011. In 2010 New York State Senator Bill Perkins recognized her for her work in the arts. She teaches film production at The City College of New York.
